The news that the Communities and Local Government department announced last month, changes to building regulations that will enhance hot water safety and efficiency measures for all new homes has delighted bosses at Staffordshire based Intatec, the anti-scald bath tap, shower and valve manufacturer who have campaigned for the introduction of anti-scald legislation for more than five years.
Bathtime scalding kills around 20 people each year in the UK and seriously injures nearly 600 more.
Intatec's commercial director Cynthia Fisher said; "We are really pleased that the government has finally recognized that the inclusion of a very cost effective and reliable piece of technology - the anti-scald valve - can create a much safer environment in Britain's bathrooms. We would encourage plumbing and bathroom professionals to take up the spirit of the legislation as well as the letter of the legislation and begin fitting anti-scald valves as standard."
"Intatec has long provided online anti-scald training for tradespeople and specifiers and we will continue to deliver the anti-scald message and the technical support and information that will make it easy for everyone involved in the installation of bathrooms to know what should be fitted and how."
