Positive perception of water efficiency
Published:  01 July, 2007

Following on from last month’s edition, the Bathroom Manufacturers Association (BMA) is calling on retailers to get involved with water efficiency and the Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme and that involvement must start with a positive perception of water efficiency.

Water efficient products have the potential to provide the Bathroom Industry with a very lucrative sector of the market and they should be relatively easy for retailers to sell, provided product knowledge is up to date, as most well informed consumers are keen to save money, energy and water. Water efficient products provide the opportunity to save all three!

If, however, retailers need to brush up on product knowledge then a visit to www.bathroom-academy.co.uk is highly recommended where the series of Generic Industry Guides can be downloaded free of charge covering baths, bathroom furniture, brassware, sanitaryware and fittings, shower controls, shower enclosures, shower trays and water efficiency.

Unlocking the key to water efficiency is a bit like fitting the pieces of a jigsaw together. In isolation, the pieces achieve very little, but once they are put together we have something that works, makes complete sense and achieves the desired results.

The BMA is calling on retailers to take their piece of the jigsaw and slot it in and work together with other stakeholders to promote water efficient products and spread the message far and wide.

Retailers should watch out for bathroom products bearing the BMA Water Efficient Product Label the Scheme website at www.water-efficiencylabel.org.uk from the autumn onwards.

In the meantime, for further information please write to info@bathroom-association.org.uk
