JT® - A British showering success
Published:  08 May, 2009

Boasting a 28% share of the UK shower tray market, JT® is leading the way in manufacturing excellence in the UK, with the Leeds-based supplier fast becoming a true British success story.

JT® was founded in 1988, and through a combination of hard work and innovation, now manufacturers more shower trays than any other company in the UK, producing around 5,000 units a week from its plants in Leeds.

In the past, a perceived lack of quality in British manufacture led many distributors to turn to the Far East in order to provide bathroom products for the UK market, in the belief that this reduced costs whilst still maintaining quality. However, in the last five years, JT® has bucked this trend and grown its market share through easy plumb product innovation and quality service.

The recent impact of the global economic down turn and subsequent knock on effects to overseas manufacturing and shipping, has also presented a gap in the market and further growth opportunities for JT®, as the British manufacturer is able to fill orders within seven to ten days.

Commenting on his company's success, Paul Crossley, Managing Director of JT®, said: "Our strength is the quality of our British designed and built product, as well as the speed in which we can react to market demands. We pride ourselves on our ability to turn round an order within seven to 12 days. This has come as a welcome surprise to those who have previously outsourced their manufacturing to the Far East, where imported orders can often take months to process and deliver.

"What's more, as we are a British manufacturer, our pricing regime is not at the mercy of global currency fluctuations, enabling us to offer consistently competitive prices."

Launch of The JT BREEZETM

To compliment JT's® well established tray range, the manufacturer has recently launched an innovative new product to further expand its offering. The JT BREEZETM, launched in May, is the lightest shower tray on the market. It was developed in response to the HSE manual handling guidelines that require a two-person lift for weights of 25kgs and above. With the new JT BREEZETM, one plumber can comfortably lift and install the tray without assistance.

Paul continues: "We are always investing in our product offer, most recently over £400,000 in our JT BREEZETM machinery, to find ways of making it the very best it can be. The HSE manual handling guidelines are a prime example of an area that presented us with a problem, and it was our aim to find a solution. We set out to create an ultra strong, ultra light tray that could be manufactured here in Britain, and that's exactly what we have achieved".

Innovating, manufacturing and investing in the UK. JT - market leader by design.
