Loving those curves with Virtual Worlds
Published:  15 April, 2009

The Virtual Worlds team has added a range of curved units to its extensive generic kitchen catalogue. A new version of the programme is due for release featuring intelligent placement of these complex units.

In addressing the trend towards curved worktops, Logicom's designers have not only come up with excellent models of base units, but have also developed an easy to use method of accurately positioning the units before simply applying matching curved counters.

The base units come in 30 and 60 degree arrangements with multiple combinations of doors and drawer packs. A curved corner drawer-pack compliments the range. Units ‘snap' together intelligently making layout a dream and, consequently, design configurations can be altered in seconds.

Worktop segments, with or without overhang at front or back, are easily ‘attached' to the carcases and can be ‘mitred' into a perpendicular straight run. There are worktop ‘cutting tools' to create various corner radii to end extension pieces.

Elegant facilities in the software enable users to under-mount sinks and add various patterns of drainer grooves to worktops. The huge unit library also boasts a complete section co-developed with Blum featuring all the key unit types offered with their "Dynamic Space" concepts.

The One Touch Tiling system has a huge range of wall and floor tiles from manufacturers and distributors and users can easily add their own new tiles. The system features a wide range of ready-made tile patterns enabling designers to be as exact with tiles as with the kitchen units themselves. The system can link to software packages such as EasyQuote and Smart but users may prefer to adapt their own price database with the Virtual Worlds Price Report system which comes as a built-in part of the package.

Logicom is also launching major new web tools for both retailers and manufacturers. The new 2D Web room planner can be stylised in any corporate livery and allows users to plan any domestic room layout with ease. The resulting room design links automatically to Virtual Worlds thus providing a superb sales-lead generating facility and a means of delivering a 3D room view from the original 2D plan.

You can try the planner now by going to the virtual worlds web site.Images can be immediately returned to the web surfer.

Manufacturers will be particularly excited by Logicom's new Web Options Room Viewer. This would offer a menu of room designs such as galley kitchen, cottage kitchen with Aga etc. Having launched their room of choice, users would then be able to change options such as door style and finish, handles, worktops, wall colours etc and navigate around the 3D room live on the web page.
