Design smart, sell smart

In a market where we are all expecting to sell less, then selling smart is what we all need to focus on. Encouraging the consumer to part company with his cash is more of a challenge than ever but the right combination of good design, turn-key solutions and value for money is a very strong platform.

Design and technical developments in worksurfaces over the last 12 months alone have given the retailer a very strong armoury of products to work with. Developments in high print definition and surface textures now mean that laminate worksurfaces offer outstanding visual and tactile aesthetics like never before. Consumers can now achieve the look and feel of granite, slate or timber at a fraction of the cost of the actual material and with wood grains in particular they are more hygienic, easier to live with and environmentally friendly. Numerous retailers have applauded our new designs with metallic particles and high gloss texture because they deliver the aspirational look of polished stone at a far more purse-friendly price which can help close the deal on a kitchen. This innovation is still exclusive to the independent sector and I believe its one way that manufacturers can show their support to retailers. What's clear from retailer feedback is that laminate innovations provide a real point of interest with which to engage the consumer and have proved a valuable tool in credit crunch times.

But arguably the best value for money in worksurfaces at the moment comes from the new generation of solid surfaced blanks that are ready-made and off-the-shelf. We've taken this one step further by uniquely introducing an undermount sink solution too. With solid surfacing being such a hot look in the kitchen sector, this type of product delivers fashionable design and exceptional value for money to the consumer. And for the retailer, fitter-friendly, ex-stock products are a crucial asset in speeding completion and enhancing cash flow which are fundamental in the current climate.
