A little colour to relieve the gloom
Published:  17 March, 2009

With so much gloom about maybe now is the time to try to relieve it all and introduce a little more colour into our lives!

Research from Mintel suggests that we are all feeling insecure and we are looking to re-establish a sense of stability in our lives. The company thinks that it is more important than ever for businesses to respond quickly and creatively to changing consumer needs.

Perhaps now is the time for a new bathroom with the very latest in colourful products, great new lighting and surface treatments. Now too is the time for the ‘eco-chic' since creating an eco-friendly bathroom does not mean using a showerhead with very little pressure or installing a bath with shallow water. Bathroom manufacturers who are members of the BMA have taken great strides to create sustainable products that are not only colourful and stylish, but also offer superior performance and quality.

Rich and bright colouring in the bathroom is firmly established - it's no longer just a glint in the designer's eye.  Trade commentators are getting excited about the interesting finishes which are being test marketed.

Bright and deeply coloured glazes have appeared - accents in bright greens, reds and oranges look stunning.  Black makes the ultimate statement. Antiqued nickel and brass and even a return to homely chintzes are on the cards.

The retailer must keep abreast of these changing bathroom fashions. Staying one step ahead of competitors is a sure way to survive and succeed when the upturn comes.

There is a lot going on and all the latest bathroom brochures can be ordered direct from www.bathroom-association.org
