ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems and  is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and administered by accreditation and certification bodies. Some of the requirements in ISO 9001 (which is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family) include

• a set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;
• monitoring processes to ensure they are effective;
• keeping adequate records;
• checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary;
• regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and
• facilitating continual improvement

Achieving ISO 9001 accreditation is a major achievement for CDA and is a clear recognition of the continuing process of improvement and development followed by the company since it was established in 1991.

"Our ambition now is to build on this accreditation, improving our systems and processes and strengthening our structures. We intend to evaluate each of our partner factories/businesses on a range of criteria. Following on from this we will measure performance against commercial, technical, finance and supply criteria. The aim of this process is to identify and act upon areas where improvements can be made, and therefore to ensure that we are continuously improving the quality and reliability of the products we supply to the market at each level."
