As house prices rise homeowners are increasingly likely to add further value to their existing property. Not only is this option less stressful it is a financially viable alternative, considering the cost involved to move.
As a result, consumers are spending far more time and money on creating their perfect and luxurious bathroom. This, coupled with the fact that so many people are travelling and visiting luxury hotels, as well as the media onslaught of home interiors magazines and TV programmes, means that expectations have increased dramatically and people want the latest designs and products for their own bathrooms.
However, these aren’t the only factors impacting upon the growth in the showering market. One area to take into consideration is the British small bathroom, and while some consumers are willing to create a shower or wet room at the expense of the bath, most do still want to incorporate both.
As a result, shower enclosure manufacturers, such as Manhattan, has spent a lot of time and effort making their products more desirable and creating solutions for small bathrooms, with innovative pivot, folding and bi-folding doors, and quadrant enclosures, all designed to help maximise available space.
We also continue to update and modify our range of bath screens to meet the requirements of consumers without the space for a separate shower enclosure or those reluctant to dispense with their bath.
The Manhattan Swift Seal Bath screen is a multi-panel screen which is easy to store or extend whilst creating an effective seal on the bath. Where the normal multi-panel screens require all panels to be in contact with the bath to prevent leaks which results in the rubber seal stretching and rubbing over the bath top attracting grime and causing the seals to split, the new Swift Seal arm drops down to create one long seal, leaving the panels to be located with ease as they are not in contact with the bath top.
On the twist side, when renovating a home, many bathrooms are being increased in size, allowing room for luxury products such as Manhattan Offset Quadrant or the large 1700 Walk-in to be fitted alongside a bath. However, the growing demand for larger shower enclosures that take up as much room as a bath could be evidence enough that consumers are ready to dump the bath altogether. In reality, this is doubtful as a bath is still very desirable, especially as people become more and more interested in spas and hydrotherapy.
We actually believe the marketplace has room to accommodate all these needs – we all want a refreshing and invigorating shower in the morning or when we get home from work, as well as a long, hot soak in the tub to relieve stresses and strains! The job of the shower enclosure manufacturer is to ensure that there is high quality and well-designed product available to meet the requirements of all consumers.
One area where showers have always been the preferred choice is the en-suite, and with new houses popping up here, there, and everywhere and current government policy for new housing in mind, it looks like shower enclosure manufacturers can only benefit from such continued growth, especially when owners look to upgrade on the original products specified.
In short, at Manhattan Showers, while we believe our high quality products and good design have helped influenced consumers into making the decision to buy and install one of our shower enclosures, we are constantly keeping up with trends, as well as the changes and developments that impact upon the market so that we are able to pre-empt what consumers desire or need. And, if the bath ever does become redundant, we have the product range available to supersede it.
