The heat is on for Radiator designers to raise the temperature with new ideas

The radiator market has never been so diverse and exciting, thanks to an undiminished consumer interest in interior design among homeowners. Even the slowdown in the UK housing market is leading many people to improve their homes instead of moving.

Designers have gone to great lengths to find alternatives to the classical white panel radiator, without compromising on output. Radiator manufacturers have championed ‘slim line' models, designed to fit in narrow alcoves or thin pillars, to maximise wall space. Radiators are certainly entering a new dimension, as models with widths from just 300mm and heights up to 2100mm have demonstrated.

Designers are becoming daring in other ways too. There are an increasing number of products on the market which serve just as well as furniture as they do as heat emitters. Electric bathroom shelves can keep towels warm, while wall mounted heating panels illuminate rooms with fluorescent light. You can even pull up a chair to one which is both a column radiator and a breakfast bar!

It's worth remembering that radiators can add a wide range of colour, as well as style to the room - from the bold and vibrant, to the subtle and elegant. Now, more than ever, there's something for everyone.
