New products and innovative designs are key to success in current economic climate

Despite today's difficult economic climate, we are witnessing a distinctive trend for increased transaction values with consumers buying products for longevity and demanding greater originality in design and materials.

Innovation is the driving force of commercial success and it is evident that companies must maintain a focus on style, design, quality and innovation to develop and sustain competitive edge. As a market-leading innovator, we continuously strive - through planned product research and development, which is playing a more strategic part in the business plan - to develop products and solutions that lead the field. We also work closely with retailers and consumers to ensure we meet and exceed their expectations.

Two-way communication with consumers and retailers is vital to new product development and helped identify a continuation in popularity for products that bring added functionality and value. The 'work centre' concept - effectively the addition of bespoke accessories that change the humble sink into a food preparation centre, continues to sell well. In addition we have seen increased popularity for more organic shapes and a move towards a combination of different materials, such as steel with glass.

In a climate where the consumer is becoming ever more discerning, innovative NPD and constant communication is the only way to survive!!
