British Gas's recent shock announcement of a 35% increase in gas prices has been highlighted in The Times by the cost of a bath, now costing the paper suggests, 96p. Mira, the leading UK shower manufacturer, points to the water and thus energy savings that households can make by showering. "An average shower uses around a third of the water used in a bath and therefore, a third of the energy required to heat it. In money terms that equates to only 31 pence for a shower rather than 96p for a bath," says Roger Crabb, Mira's marketing manager.
There are further significant savings open to shower users, claims Mira with its new Eco showerhead. The ecofficientTM technology uses a Venturi principle - introducing air without a pump - creating a mixture of air and water that delivers a great shower but using up to 75% less water than a conventional shower head.
"With the Eco showerhead, 31 pence is reduced to about 8 pence, a really useful daily saving to help offset these new higher energy prices," adds Crabb.
The Eco showerhead is available on its own, or now as part of a brand new shower package, the Mira Miniduo and Eco Showerhead that combines all the benefits of the Miniduo shower valve with all the water saving benefits of the Eco showerhead.
