Built-in sector, builds up
Comment by Ian Moverley, Indesit Brand Director

The washing machine market is a mature, stable product category that is experiencing strong growth within the Built-in sector. This brings positive news to the industry, especially under the current financial climate where larger luxury purchases, especially within white goods are becoming a reconsidered purchase. The Built-in growth is partly fuelled by replacement purchase and new builds, but is also impacted by consumers making the decision to invest into a kitchen re-fit project rather than the heavier investment and hassle factor of a full blown house move.

In terms of the product, the focus is on providing the consumer with relevant, innovative features that really make a difference. At Hotpoint, they have combined the flexibility of larger loads by offering a massive 8kg and 9kg capacity, mini loads, and a range of specialist and fast wash programmes now available to meet the needs of today's time poor consumers.

Within the Indesit brand simplicity is a particular focus, this resulted in two Indesit washer dryers, the integrated IWDE12 and best selling WIDXL126 being awarded Which? Best Buy status within this months issue.

The market continues to evolve and develop new design and consumer-based features to accommodate new trends and demands for functionality with the ultimate, stylish finish.

Open plan kitchen and dining space has become the centre of social activity in the home. This has resulted in many households opting to knock down walls to create a spacious environment in which to socialise with friends and family. Products have become focal points within this space, including washing machines, delivering seamless integration through style, design and innovation. High gloss black and satin aluminium are perfect finishes to create light reflecting dynamics within the kitchen scheme giving a feeling of space and a premium experience.
