The designer radiator market has remained strong with no sign of a sharp downturn in the mid to upper price brackets. Bathrooms and kitchens are still first on the list for home improvements, even though customers are now more likely to be renovating for themselves, rather than to sell.
Value will be key over the coming months, in a market where customer needs are changing. Not just value for money, but value in good design, quality manufacture, function and service.
People want glamorous looking towel radiators, but they also want quality if they're going to live with their bathroom or kitchen, not chrome that chips. Function is as important as style, across all price sectors. For instance, space-saving radiators, such as tall, thin models that fit behind doors, will continue to be popular, especially for small bathrooms where wall space is at a premium.
Customers like choice when it comes to radiators, in terms of style, size, finish and colour. This was almost unheard of in the days before designer radiators, but is now a vital part of interior design. With the current trend for a less uniform and more individual look in the home, choice in finishes, especially metallics for kitchens and bathrooms, is likely to be particularly important for 2009.
