Worktop manufacturer Bushboard has won an International Safety Award for the second year running from the British Safety Council. Benchmarking the company's health and safety performance against key criteria, Bushboard was judged to have demonstrated an excellent and consistent result for 2007-2008, with the company's accident rate being less than half the national average for their industry sector.
Through investment and training Bushboard reduced manual handing accidents; reviewed and implemented improvements to their workplace transport and maintained a very low accident rate during a period of significant factory re-structuring for the installation of the new £1m Encore solid surface manufacturing line.
Says Andrew Waller, Health and Safety Manager:
"The significant re-shaping of our manufacturing operations this year has been a real test for our health and safety procedures, and winning this award underlines how seriously we take our commitments for providing a safe working environment."
As well as the awards from the British Safety Council, Bushboard has also received consistent recognition over the last two decades for their ongoing commitment to health and safety in the workplace from RoSPA, the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents.
