Sad loss for the industry
Published:  07 August, 2008

Brian Woods, the founder of Sinks & Things Ltd, has died at the age of 71 following a long and bravely borne illness.

Brian founded Sinks & Things in 1975 following his agency activities in the Kitchens/bathrooms sector under the name of Tranarc Marketing. His original product portfolio consisted mainly of Franke, Bosch and KWC, and by the early 80's Sinks & Things had become Franke sink division's largest customer worldwide.  Brian sold the company in 1988 in an MBO organised by Mike Hayward and Mike Tate who still run the company today.

Following the sale, he realised a lifetime ambition by emigrating to South Africa with his wife Val, where they spent ten happy years before returning to the UK to be closer to their family.

Brian will be remembered as a very enthusiastic pioneer who saw business in a very simple way by treating staff, customers and suppliers with the utmost consideration and honesty. Not only did Brian have an obsessive interest in product knowledge, he also liked to involve himself in all detailed aspects of his business - a challenge which even included computerisation.
