Its not as easy as it looks

The Tiling Competition at The Tile & Stone Show was a huge hit.  It was a central feature of the show with six tilers, winners from various UK finals, competing to be the UK's best tile fixer.  They were judged throughout on their designs and technical skills by an independent panel of judges.

"This year's was an excellent competition.  What the entrants produced within just 15 hours was a credit to the tilers themselves, and to the industry as a whole.  It illustrated the skills that are necessary to become a competent tile fixer in today's industry". Lesley Day, Executive Officer, TTA and one of the judges.

There was a wide age range from two recent winners of TTA award best newcomer, one still in his teens to an experienced professional tiler with 44 years experience under his belt.

The entrants were Alan Milne who has been in the industry 10 years and had has won Skillbbuild twice, Stephen Elliott 19 and a Skillbuild runner up, Peter Breathwick with 25 years experience, John Hill who started in the industry in 1964, Maciek Faron who won the competition in 2007 and Michael Alexander Smith a member of the Guild of Master Craftsmen.

And the winners were third to Stephen Elliott for the sheer amount of work he created for himself and for his enthusiasm, second to Peter Breathwick for absolute perfection in tiling skills and first for his complexity of design and completeness in tiling skills went to Alan Milne.
