Thirteen BMA members have registered more than 320 products on the BMA's Water Efficient Product Labelling Scheme ranging from WC suites to shower controls.

BMA Chief Executive Yvonne Orgill says: "The Scheme is certainly gathering momentum and we're pleased that the take up from BMA members has been so good. This proves that BMA members lead the industry on all major issues, water efficiency being just one of them."

The Scheme was launched last year with a supporting website at www.water-efficiencylabel.org.uk, which contains a database of registered products that the industry can use to source water efficient products.

The Scheme has received an endorsement from Environment Minister Phil Woolas and the website is regularly visited by specifiers, architects, developers, retailers and independent consumers.

Yvonne continues: "I would encourage any company with a product that could potentially qualify to apply for registration. The database is an extremely useful tool for all sectors of the industry and consumers. If your products aren't on there you risk them not being found.

"In light of upcoming modifications to legislation, now is the best time to prepare for those changes."

The Scheme is voluntary, industry-led and regulated by an independent third party. Any company manufacturing or selling products that meet with the Scheme's criteria are welcome to join.

The BMA members with registered water efficient products include Armitage Shanks, Ideal Standard International, Intatec Ltd, Jika, Kohler Mira Ltd, Laufen Ltd, Lecico Plc, Pegler Ltd, Qualceram Shires, Roca Ltd, Roman Ltd, Thomas Dudley Ltd and Twyford Bathrooms.
