Solving food waste problems
Comment by FRED PAYNE Managing Director, Waste Maid Ltd.

It is generally accepted that 25% of household rubbish is food waste. Most recycle/waste experts agree the most effective way to dispose of food waste is via a Food Waste Disposer.

Much consumer interest continues (2-week rubbish collections) in these convenient appliances, but there are still some concerns and reservations that Joe Public raise that need to be squashed: disposers are noisy, take up too much space, sharp blades can inflict damage, non-child friendly, damp hands touches on/off switch, difficult/costly to fit, high energy costs to run. Kitchen Dealers often have the best opportunity to discuss disposer inclusion in the new kitchen and naturally dispel all of these myths.

In addition to providing customers with a responsible solution to solve food waste problems, it clicks another appliance sale - with good Dealer margins. To begin, or increase disposer sales take some time to  talk to a couple of Disposer reps. Check the quality, design and prices of the leading brands - and when you decide the most suitable line, put a disposer in your own home and install a working unit (often at no cost!) in your showroom. There, it will be easy to demonstrate the ease and safety of use.

Even homes that receive a weekly rubbish collection still have to store  food waste in the kitchen bin (odours, bacterial growth) or outside container (attracts flies and rodents). Waste disposers rid the kitchen of food waste instantly.
