Ideal Standard International has announced with much sadness that Norman Bennett, former Managing Director passed away on 14th March.
Norman joined Ideal Standard on 1st February 1969 as a Management Accountant, based at the Middlewich site. During October of that year he transferred to Hull as a Cost Analysis Manager. Norman was appointed to the Executive Board during 1973 as Group Planning Director and was appointed Managing Director of the UK during January 1977.
Norman made a significant contribution to Ideal Standard, handling the sale of the Heating Business in 1976, organising the new offices and then focusing the business onto bathrooms.
Norman was a keen golfer and won the Industry Golf Cup in 1981, 1989, 1992 and 1994. He was instrumental in keeping Ideal Standard's own Golf Society alive, holding the position of President for many years.
Norman retired from Ideal Standard on 2nd January 1995, however continued an active role in the company. He was subsequently appointed to a Trustee of Ideal Standard's pension fund, continuing in this role until recently.
Our sincere condolences are sent to Norman's wife Margaret on her sad loss.
