Annual Bathroom Conference Update
Published:  09 May, 2008

Plans for the Annual Bathroom Conference ‘Sustainable Solutions - Awareness, Engagement & Action' are well underway with the first two speakers signed up. Wayne Hemingway MBE, who created the iconic Red or Dead fashion brand with his wife Gerardine; and, Peter Braithwaite of environmental consultancy Arup have confirmed for this year's event.

Wayne and Gerardine's company HemingwayDesign specialises in affordable and social design. They have worked on numerous groundbreaking projects including the multi award winning Staiths South Bank - an 800-property project on Tyneside for Taylor Wimpey Homes.

Wayne says: "Sustainable design should be accessible, affordable and enjoyable, creating individuality whilst not having a negative impact environmentally. We should be able to do that with bathrooms too."

Peter Braithwaite, a director of Arup with more than 25 years' experience in the UK and overseas in a wide range of civil engineering projects, has broad experience of the environmental impacts of major developments on the natural environment and man.

Peter is responsible for a wide range of environmental commissions from inception through bid documentation, audits and investigation, studies and remedial design through to implementation.

The 2008 Bathroom Conference will delve into all aspects of the sustainability from corporate and social responsibilities, sustainable communities, economic consequences and expectations for tomorrow's bathrooms and of course, the sustainability of water and water usage.

The event takes place on 14 October at The Marriott Forest of Arden Hotel & Country Club in Warwickshire.
