German manufacturer of glassed steel basins and washstands, Alape, has launched the Flat basin. The washstand with built-in basin further enhances Alape's position as a specialist manufacturer of individual and innovative bathroom design. Designed by Yorgo Lykouria of Jahn Lykouria Design in London the flat washstand represents a new generation of bathroom solutions by Alape.
The shape of the bowl has been reduced to a flat, gently sloped surface. It creates a very purist design for the product, which has neither a traditional drain valve nor an overflow. With basins functioning in this new way, Alape is able to create very flat washstand designs with an integrated drain. This creates an eye-catching feature as the water spreads itself across the basin's flat surface before flowing away through a narrow gap.
These products are made possible by the material that Alape uses; glassed steel as only glassed steel has the precision required for the production of such exact geometrical forms.
