Hettich overcomes CAD confusion
Published:  11 April, 2008

Hettich UK has launched HettCAD - a fittings library compatible with more than 50 memory formats, to ensure designers can insert Hettich fittings in their CAD drawings, no matter which CAD package they use.

HettCAD is the latest addition to Hettich's suite of design software, which includes Selection Professional, with which furniture designers without CAD knowledge can build a 3-D cabinet from scratch and create an AutoCAD drawing in the process. But with so many CAD programmes in use, Hettich recognized the need to have product drawings available from a single source, but compatible with a multitude of formats.

The CAD data from HettCAD is available to registered users of the Hettich online catalogue. After examining the two or three-dimensional view of the chosen fitting, the designer simply selects the required CAD format, and the data is e-mailed to them immediately.

Using the files supplied by HettCAD helps reconcile planned dimensions, conduct collision checks, determine the correct position of the fitting in the cabinet and pinpoint the necessary drilling points for installation.

To give a few examples, HettCAD quickly shows whether through-dowels and connectors are provided at the correct position, whether the planned storage space is adequate for the purpose for which is was designed, or whether pots and pans will fit into the kitchen unit intended for their storage.
