Classic designs still popular in a contemporary age

With the market enjoying a renewed interest in traditional kitchen styles, Mereway Kitchens reflects this desire for classic designs with a portfolio of character ranges and authentic finishes that continues to stay strong.  With a strong proportion of the UK kitchen market continuing to aspire to traditional style kitchens influenced by classic and period designs, the need to create kitchens and dining areas that reflect a warm, cosy atmosphere are growing in popularity.

Shaker style doors in rich, dark woods or soft muted colours are the epitome of the classic country style kitchen, with increasing demand for traditional elements such as natural aged distressing and period feature units. Mantels with hidden storage and countertop pantry dressers are increasingly popular as they not only provide an authentic touch but afford valuable storage space. Aluminum, pewter or stainless steel handles and knobs can certainly enhance a traditional feel, whilst strong metallic influences through appliances and fittings can bring these classic types of ranges into the modern day.

British Manufacturers such as Mereway Kitchens are keen to provide retailers with a rounded collection of classic styles to suit their individual market places and in turn provide the consumer with the perfect choice when looking for a quality traditional kitchen.

"The old adage the kitchen is the heart of the home still rings true, and at Mereway Kitchens we pride ourselves on being able to offer ranges and units that enable our retailers to realise this dream for their customers", says Ginette Crowther, Marketing Manager.

"Although our contemporary furniture has experienced great sales in recent years, the traditional side of our portfolio has also continued to grow strong in line with market demand. This spring sees the introduction of curved doors in our popular wooden ranges as well as curved pilasters and cornice to emphasise this softness of shape, enabling designers to create more ergonomic contours within the kitchen and echo more of a hand crafted, classic feel", says Ginette. "We have also extended our magnificent Countertop Pantry Dresser, with its wide range of internal storage, into our hugely successful Virginia and Redmond ranges enabling designers to bring in that wow factor into even the most traditional of kitchens."
