Kludi sets the benchmark for environmental innovation
Published:  01 May, 2007

As the environment becomes an issue of increasing concern, German brassware manufacturer Kludi has responded with foresight, introducing two key developments designed to reduce energy consumption and maximise efficiency.

Unlike a typical single-lever mixer, the highly innovative Ecocartridge lever (pictured) controls the flow of hot water with exceptional efficiency, reducing energy wastage and saving water.

Opening in the midway position (without incorporating warm water), the lever turns as usual to increase the temperature to around 38°C, until it encounters resistance. Since hot water will only flow when this resistance is over-ridden, the result is a reduction in energy wastage on unnecessary hot water.

Unique to Kludi, the singlelever mixer with integrated thermostat represents a huge advancement in energy efficiency, as well as providing added protection from scalding. Designed for the Evita range of fittings, thermostatic technology within the mixer regulates water temperature and maintains it at a constant, irrelevant of the type of water pipe. Thermostatic control produces a substantial water and energy saving of up to 60 per cent.
