One of the UK’s best kept secrets is also one of Germany’s biggest kitchen furniture manufacturers. “bau-for-mat” is still owned by the Baumann family, whose origins go back to 1929 when the four Baumann brothers (Gebruder Baumann) set up a company called GEBA. In 1954 Wilhelm Baumann set up the independent manufacture of kitchen buffets. His grandson Delf Baumann now runs the company.
Today “bau-for-mat” is known as a “Dealer’s Brand” and boasts more than 170 front variations and a three to four-week delivery time. The success has been in giving the specialist a first class rigid German kitchen for the the price of a UK flat pack! In real terms this allows for a very profitable business partnership which has been reflected by the growth “bau-for-mat” has seen in its UK and Ireland markets in recent years, having had a presence here since 1974.
For the design-orientated studios “bau-for-mat” has a great range of design elements from glass lammelle roller shutter units to three variations of “Blums Synchro” corner units. The programme offers four heights of base units, with widths from 20cm to 120cm, five heights of wall units, and six heights of tall units.
