Jonathan Casley, sales and marketing director at Glen Dimplex Home Appliances comments on how the Kitchen Appliance market is shaping up in 2008.
"With manufacturers really taking technology and design to the next level, today's consumers are faced with the most diverse range of kitchen appliances to exceed their style, performance and lifestyle needs right across the kitchen.
"However, it is noticeable that the demands and concerns that many consumers have has changed significantly over the past year; in turn shaping the way the industry is heading, challenging manufacturers and offering retailers a wealth of sales opportunities.
"It is difficult to deny that our environment is changing and, whether consciously or not, we are seeing this have a real impact on how and why consumers select their appliances. For some customers, price is always going to be the leading factor, but for a growing number energy efficiency is now one of the main deal breakers.
"Going forward this can not be ignored. Particularly at the top end of the market, consumers really are looking for appliances that ‘do it all' - they need to look fantastic, offer outstanding performance and maximise their energy efficiency.
"Indeed, as this trend progresses over the coming year, it is something we will no doubt see become much more wide spread throughout all sectors of the market from entry level upwards."
