The Award will be presented at a glittering gala evening on 9 May, during the Grand Designs Live exhibition at London's ExCel. The awards will, for the first time, be decided by the public and will be supported with a week-long series of the popular TV show. A panel of judges including Wayne Hemmingway and Janet Street-Porter, will shortlist each of the ten categories down to three finalists. The public will then be invited to vote for their favourite by either phone or via the website.

Ruth Ward, sales and marketing director of the KBSA comments: "It is very important to recognise talent and achievement within the kitchen, bathroom and bedroom industry which is why we feel strongly about sponsoring awards such as this.

"This design award is particularly relevant for the KBSA this year as we have expanded our bathroom membership considerably with the strategic alliance with IBSA.  We now have an additional 25  quality bathroom showrooms and seven manufacturing members that include, Ambiance Bain, Daryl/Kohler, Hansgrohe, Jacuzzi, Bristan/John Sydney, Matki showering, and Villeroy and Boch."

Grand Designs Live last year attracted 50,000 visitors and the 2007 awards received over 1,000 entries. Around 1,500 per week visit the Grand Designs website, with 4.5 million regularly tuning in to the television series. Grand Designs is also supported by a very popular national monthly magazine.
